Geoffrey Baym and Jeffrey P. Jones's collection traces the fortunes of news parody shows in twelve different countries across the globe. Their content is both universal and particular: news parodies transfer easily across cultures (witness the success of the German version of The Daily Show), while incorporating culture-specific elements. In Denmark and Hungary programmes draw on traditions of political cabaret, while parodies in India speak to the anti-colonial, oppositional press (p. 7).
